Utilizing technology and accessing the wireless network is an opportunity for students to personalize their learning by choosing with their parents which devices are most appropriate for their learning needs. Please review our schools digital citizenship policy with your child to ensure information is accessed in a safe and ethical manner.
Using cell phones for calling and texting is not permitted inside the building. Should parents/ guardians or students need to contact each other please come to the office or ask your classroom teacher to use a school phone.
Due to FOIP and privacy concerns, students are not permitted to take photographs of each other at school. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation!
As with any personal belonging that a student brings to school, the school cannot be responsible for electronic devices that are lost, stolen or damaged. Students should see their teacher if they need to lock up personal devices.
Students will not have access to school servers or printers through their personal devices. As such they will need to utilize their CBE email, google drive or purchase and use a USB device to transfer files to the school network.
Software is NOT provided to students for student owned devices. School classes may utilize software applications that the student does not have on their device. Furthermore, the school is not able to provide technical support for student owned devices.
Digital Citizenship at the CBE
Digital citizenship is about using technology and participating in digital environments. It is key to helping our students learn to use available technology responsibly in the classroom and beyond. Our school has a Digital Citizenship Plan that is updated annually, addressing how we work to build a community where we live and work together as digital citizens.

Personal Mobile Devices
Student personal mobile devices are limited or restricted at all schools, unless required for health or medical needs, to support specialized learning needs, and for educational purposes. Learn more about our BYOD (bring your own device) rules.
Web Filtering & Social Media
Inappropriate or unsafe content may be blocked to provide a safe environment: some content is blocked for all users, and other content may be suitable for older students but not for younger ones. Student access to known social media platforms is blocked on school networks and school devices for all grade levels.
