WEEK IN REVIEW:
This week Nellie McClung brought in Netball Alberta for a phys. Ed. residency. Netball is a ball sport played on a rectangular court by two teams of seven players. The primary objective is to shoot a ball through the defender's goal ring while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own. Netball differs in many ways from basketball, principally in the absence of the backboards from the hoop or goal ring and the prohibition of dribbling, bouncing, and running while in possession of the ball. Grade 6s took part in the Ready, Set, robot... Computer Science programs from Telus Spark Science Centre. This 4 day workshop introduced students to computer science, coding, technology, and robotics – no coding experience required! This residency provided insights to the foundation of code through a variety of hands-on activities, helping to inspire and connect students to the innovative world of technology. We need volunteers! Sign up today!
Why Volunteer?
• The shifts are daytime or evening, approximately 4-8 hours long.
• If you can help with just one shift, you alone raise approximately $1,500!
• It’s a fantastic way to meet others in our school community.
• No experience is needed – training is provided!
• Enjoy a free meal during your shift.
What does “working a casino” mean?
You’ll assist with jobs like counting money, refilling chips at tables, or helping customers cash out. All tasks are computerized, and there’s a paid supervisor to guide you.
Who can volunteer?
Anyone 18+ without a criminal conviction. Friends, grandparents, and adult siblings are welcome!
