Nellie in the Know – June 14, 2024

Happy Fathers’ Day Citizens of Nellie,

Thank you all so much for an incredible week.  We are so blessed to have so many spectacular people at Nellie.  This week at our Volunteer Appreciation Assembly, our School BBQ and our Cross-country Race it was so evident that the strength of Nellie lies in the connection of all of our students, volunteers, families and staff.  Wow what a great group of citizens we have at Nellie.

Have a fantastic Fathers’ Day weekend!

 Darren Dyck, Principal

 Calendar

June is a busy month.  Stay on top of everything going on by visiting our school calendar and link it to your phone.

 Library Books

All library books are due June 14th.  Please return them to the library so we can do our June inventory.

School Fees

School Fees can we addressed through your MyCBE Account.  There are a number of outstanding accounts for field trips.  Please attend to these as soon as possible as unpaid fees will affect our 2024-2025 operational school budget.  If you are struggling to pay your school fees please email me at dkdyck@cbe.ab.ca or call me at 587-777-6331.

June Is Pride Month

The CBE strives for all schools to be safe and caring places for all students and staff. We applaud the work that schools and service units do to embrace diversity and make our school board one that welcomes and celebrates students and staff from diverse backgrounds, perspectives and beliefs.

June 1st marks the beginning of Pride Month, a time to recognize the pursuit of equality and rights for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals. During Pride Month, we recognize the valuable contributions individuals of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities have made to history and society. We affirm the importance of ensuring 2SLGBTQ+ students and staff have learning and work environments that are welcoming, caring, respectful and safe.

June is National Indigenous History Month

This is a time to learn about the unique cultures, traditions and experiences of First Nations, Métis and Inuit in Canada.

This year's theme, "inspiring our youth for change," aligns with Aboriginal Awareness Week Calgary and the City of Calgary. It aims to empower the next generation of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples to reclaim and instill pride, cultural knowledge, and education in our communities. This can be achieved by being positive role models and continuing our collective journey through Truth and Reconciliation
