Nellie in the Know – June 21, 2024
Happy Summer Citizens of Nellie,
Another fantastic week for Nellie. Our grade 6 students wrote their PATs, and their marks were incredibly high. Congratulations to all of our hard-working grade 6 students!!! Between Talent Show auditions, Heritage Park, Glenmore Bike Trip, Butterfield Acres Trip, and our outdoor learning experiences everyone was fully engaged in authentic learning experiences this week. We are so thankful to the many volunteers who helped make all our trips possible.
There is one week of school left until summer break and we have a lot of activities happening, so please link to our school calendar. Grade 6 Farewell, Summerfest, Talent Show, Classroom Celebrations, Short Day Thursday and Appeals Day are all coming up next week.

School Fees
School Fees can be addressed through your MyCBE Account. There are a number of outstanding accounts for field trips. Please attend to these as soon as possible as unpaid fees will affect our 2024-2025 operational school budget. June Is Pride Month
During Pride Month, we recognize the valuable contributions individuals of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities have made to history and society. We affirm the importance of ensuring 2SLGBTQ+ students and staff have learning and work environments that are welcoming, caring, respectful and safe. This month there were several grade-based initiatives and one school-wide initiative to tangibly support the rights of all students. Every student in the school is working on their “Be You” project. Make sure you ask them about it.
June is National Indigenous History Month
In recognition of Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day on Friday, June 21, CBE service units, teams, and individuals created and will be articulating and sharing our TRC Commitment to Action for the 2024-25 school year. This is Nellie’s commitment for the coming year.
PAC News
Our AGM for next year will be Thursday September 19. We have several people who have put their name forward to sit on the executive of our council next year and we want to thank them for giving of their time and their talents to their school. If you are considering helping next year, please email or call me and we can look at how you could help. Please consider helping with PAC next year and please put Sept. 19th in your calendar now.

Nellie needs your help. With limited funding, a delay in our casino funds and the high cost of inflation our school needs your help. Nellie’s PAC is sponsoring a Fill My Bucket Campaign.
