Nellie in the Know June 26, 2026

Happy Friday, Nellie Citizens!

As we come to the close of another school year at Nellie McClung, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our students, staff, and families for a wonderful year of learning, growth, and connection. Our students have demonstrated perseverance, curiosity, and kindness, and we are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished.

I wish all of our families a restful and joyful summer break and look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall for another exciting year together.

WEEK IN REVIEW

  • On Monday at our final Seven Sacred Teachings assembly, our Kindergarten students took the lead in sharing the teaching of Truth, represented by the turtle. Through their voices and learning, they reminded us that truth means being honest, speaking from the heart, and staying true to ourselves and others. The turtle, who carries its home on its back, symbolizes living one’s truth wherever we go. We are proud of our Kindergarten learners for sharing this important message with such confidence and care, helping our whole school community reflect on how we can practice truth in our daily lives.
  • On Tuesday, our students enjoyed a fun-filled Summerfest Silly Sports Day, taking part in a variety of active and creative challenges that brought plenty of laughter and school spirit. Through cooperative games and friendly competition, students developed important Physical Education and Wellness outcomes such as teamwork, communication, and perseverance, while practicing movement skills in an inclusive and supportive environment. It was wonderful to see students encouraging one another and celebrating success together as a school community! A big shout out to our Grade 5 students who organized and led the stations and to School Council who provided freezies as a special treat
  • On Thursday, our Grade 6 students were celebrated at their farewell assembly, where we recognized their many contributions and achievements during their time at Nellie McClung. In the afternoon, the grade 6s enjoyed a swimming field trip, providing a fun and active opportunity to connect with peers and celebrate the end of their elementary journey. We wish our Grade 6 students all the best as they transition to junior high!
  • Report Cards for the 2025-26 school year are available from June 25 – July 31, 2026 through MyCBE. After July 31, report cards will no longer be available.
  • Outstanding Fees Before the school year ends, please review and pay outstanding school fee balances through MyCBE. Any outstanding fees will be sent to collections if unpaid after 180 days. Families requiring support can consider applying for payment plans or fee waivers.
