Nellie in the Know – May 10, 2024
Happy Mothers’ Day Weekend Citizens of Nellie,
What a magical week at Nellie. I hope you had the opportunity to see “A Haunting at Golden Grove”! This may have been the best production ever created at Nellie. I am so proud and so thankful to the many students, staff and volunteers who worked so hard to create this created at Nellie Operetta. From conception to the closing curtain last night our Nellie family worked so hard to create a truly aesthetic experience for the audience and performers alike. Ms. Dennison, the grade 4, 5 and 6 students and staff and our volunteers dedicated so much time and effort to create a truly special musical production at Nellie. Thank you all!
Just a heads up…some folks misheard Ms. Dennison last night…NO SHE IS NOT LEAVING NELLIE!!! She just said this is the last year for her to produce a show with her own children in it at Nellie. J We are not letting her go anywhere! J
A Letter From An Audience Member
Dear Darren and Miss Tanis,
I recently had the immense pleasure of attending the Grade 6 performance at your school, and I am compelled to express my heartfelt admiration for the remarkable display of talent and creativity that I witnessed.
As a holder of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Acting, I have spent countless hours both on stage and behind the scenes, and I understand the dedication, practice, and courage required to bring a story to life in front of an audience. What I saw during your students’ performance was nothing short of extraordinary. The confidence, passion, and sheer talent that emanated from these young performers were awe-inspiring and a clear reflection of the outstanding guidance and encouragement they have received.
The arts play a crucial role in education, encouraging self-expression, empathy, and critical thinking. It is heartening to see a school where the arts are celebrated and where students are given the opportunity to explore their talents to such an impressive extent.
I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to you, your staff, and, most importantly, the students for a job well done.
The future of the arts looks bright with young performers like these!
Please pass on my kudos to everyone involved in the production on a wonderful, beautiful and truly amazing job well done!
Warm regards,
Moneca
I always say that Nellie is the best school ever because of the connection, passion and dedication of students, families and staff. This past weekend our very own, Ms. Delaney-Taylor ran the BMO Vancouver Marathon and raced to a personal best which qualifies her for the Boston Marathon! Congratulations Ms. Delaney-Taylor…we are all so proud of you!
Nellie is the most amazing school because of the incredible people connected to our school. Thank you all for creating such a wonderful week of learning!
Have a great Mothers' Day weekend!!!
