Happy Friday Citizens of Nellie!
The Week in Review
Wednesday was World Day for Cultural Diversity. Many staff and students across CBE and at Nellie celebrated by wearing their traditional cultural clothing or regalia. This observance is held annually on May 21 to help people learn about the importance of cultural diversity and harmony, an opportunity for countries to embrace their varied cultural history and acknowledged the importance of embracing it. On Thursday, grade 6 students got to meet MLA Nagwan Al-Guneid. Ms. Al-Guneid is a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the NDP in Calgary-Glenmore Area. Students had great questions for her about Government and Democracy, an important part of the grade 6 curriculum! See pic on our weekly pics link below and School Council also shared photos MLA Al-Guneid engaging with our students yesterday on their Facebook page, linked at the bottom of this email.
This week Ms. Acott's grade 1 class spent all 4 days away at Stampede School . Ms. Richard's class has already attended a full week and Ms. Child's class attends next week. A landmark of Alberta’s rich history, Stampede Park offers a unique environment for teachers and students to participate in experiences that cultivate appreciation of western heritage and values. At Stampede School, students work alongside experts, making the past come alive, the present relevant and the future full of possibilities. See some fun photos on the Nellie weekly pics link at the bottom of this email.
