Happy Friday, Nellie Citizens!
VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION ASSEMBLY- Wednesday June 3, 10:00am The staff and students of Nellie McClung warmly invite you to our annual Volunteer Appreciation Assembly. Whether you helped in the classroom, on field trips, or with fundraisers, your contributions are cherished. Our school Community is stronger because of you! We look forward to the opportunity to celebrate your time, energy, and dedication to our students.
WEEK IN REVIEW - On Monday this week grade 6 students took their first Provincial Achievement Test in fiction and non-fiction writing. In June, Provincial Achievement Tests are also scheduled for Reading, Math and Science. Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) are administered annually to all Alberta students in Grades 6 and 9. These standardized tests reflect the essentials that all Alberta students are expected to achieve, regardless of school choice or location. PATs help:
- determine if students are learning what they are expected to learn
- report to Albertans how well students have achieved provincial standards at given points in their schooling
- assist schools, authorities and the province in monitoring and improving student learning

THE WEEK AHEAD:
WE NEED YOUR HELP! Nellie Casino Shift Sign-Up - Nellie McClung School has the opportunity to raise more than $90,000 at an upcoming casino, and we need your help to make it happen again. The opportunity to volunteer at a casino comes around every 2 years. It is by far our largest fundraising opportunity. Nellie McClung is scheduled for Thursday October 8th and Friday, October 9th, 2026 at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino
Volunteers don't need any experience! The shifts are daytime or evening, approximately 4-8 hours long. If you can help with just one shift, you alone raise approximately $2,500! If you are able to help, please consider signing up for a shift. Nellie Casino Shift Sign-Up
