Parent-Teacher Conferences
Conferences are coming up next week. Bookings are open at 4:00pm today.
You can book your Parent-Teacher conferences through your MYCBE account; https://sis.cbe.ab.ca/public/home.html
Conference dates are November 28; 4:00 – 7:30pm and November 29; 9:00am – 1:00pm. If you have any problems booking a conference with your child(s) teacher, please email our temp Office Secretary, Mrs. Keye-Leigh at krpaytencarew@cbe.ab.ca
The Used Book Sale is back!
Thursday, November 28, 2023 9:00 am to 6:30 pm
Please consider donating your used books by Tuesday November 26, 2024.
Your used book donation will be used in the following way:
- help fill Nellie's classrooms with new books
-provide each child at Nellie with a new book to continue to foster the love of reading
-all unsold books are donated to other CBE programs to be put to great use.
All children's book are $2. On Thursday November 28, classes will have the opportunity to shop the book sale. So don't forget to send them with a toonie.
Every book will have a new wonderful home!

Fill the Fridge
For teachers during conferences (November 28 and 29) The PAC will be purchasing a hot meal for our
amazing staff and we'd like your help to "fill the fridge" with beverages to help fuel them for their long days. We kindly ask that you send your donation with your little ones, or drop off all drinks to the main office by November 26, 2024.

December Giving Tree
Our hearts at Nellie are BIG! Over the years, Nellie families have supported other Nellie Families through the Giving Tree. There are a number of families in our community who are struggling to make ends meet. As a Nellie Community, during the holiday season we come together and provide gifts food and any additional help for the families.
This year we kindly ask that each donated item be wrapped before it is dropped off and labeled with the family number, along with the family member that it is kindly being donated for. If possible please include a gift receipt.
If you would like to make a donation to the Giving Tree and would like a tax receipt, please email transfer our treasurer at treasurernellie@gmail.com with your contact info ( name and address) in the comments, and our amazing treasurer Sarah will get this sorted out for you.
New this year, are the Wish List items. These items listed are family items that can be new or previously loved. These items do not need to be wrapped and just placed in a bag and labeled for the intended family.
Please have all your donations dropped off by Monday December 2, 2024.

Created by kids Art Fundraiser
Thank you to all of our teachers for their time and efforts preparing and distributing all the kids' artwork for our first-ever Created by Kids Art fundraiser. All of the artwork that was returned has now been sent to the company to process. If you've ordered items, you'll be able to pick them up at the school the week of December 9 - 13. We'll let you know when they arrive.
Sound Kreations Dance
This week from Nov. 18-22, we were fortunate to have Sound Kreations Dance as an artist in residence. EducationMatters offers a grant opportunity for dance programs/artist in residencies through the Kaiti Perras Love of Dance Memorial Fund. The Kaiti Perras Love of Dance Memorial Fund was established in 2014 in loving memory of Kaiti by her family. Kaiti loved all forms of dance, both as a participant and more recently as a teacher. The purpose of the fund is to introduce and inspire passion for school-aged children to the beauty of dance in Calgary Board of Education or Calgary Catholic School District schools. Our Sound Kreations dance artist, Alex, taught students fun hip hop and AFROBEAT moves, unveiling the Heartbeat of West Africa through Dance. In a world where Afrobeats is not only a musical genre but a cultural movement, “Afrobeat” empowers students to connect with the rhythms of Africa and contribute to a dynamic dance culture. By joining this program, students delve into the rhythms and history that have shaped Afrobeats, celebrating its roots and embracing its global influence.
