Happy Friday Citizens of Nellie,
Week in Review
- On Tuesday, Students took a reflective Walk For Wenjack and marked the end of Secret Path Week. This is a national movement commemorating the legacies of Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack. October 17th and 22nd respectively mark the dates that Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack joined the spirit world. In 1966, Chanie Wenjack ran away from a residential school and walked for 36 hours along the train tracks before dying of exposure on October 22. He was just 12 years old.
- Thursday was Nellie's annual Halloween Dance. It was a fantastic opportunity for families coming together as a community. DJ Connor was spinning and making sure the dance floor was rocking! Games were played and prizes handed out for best costumes! see the photos on our Nellie Weekly Pics link, below. A big thank you and shout out to our School council for organizing this fun event.
- On Friday Nellie staff participated in Professional Learning Day where we spent the full day recertifying our Standard First Aid with CPR/AED. All CBE schools must find the time to ensure staff are trained with Standard First Aid. We want to be able to offer the right medical response should an emergency strike.
If you ever have any questions, want to know how you can get involved or if you have concerns please email Acting Principal, Ms. Aleta Terlecki at adterlecki@cbe.ab.ca .

December Giving Tree
For the past 4 years Nellie families have supported Nellie Families through the Giving Tree. There are a number of families in our community who are struggling to make ends meet. As a community, in December, we provide gifts for struggling families, food and help that is needed. If you are in need please email me at adterlecki@cbe.ab.ca and we will “adopt” your family this December. If you are interested in helping please watch for emails from School Council on what is needed. A sign-up genius will be sent out once we know what our families need. Recipients will be anonymous.
