Happy Friday Citizens of Nellie!
WE VALUE YOUR VOICE! Please take 3 minutes to answer 6 questions about your experience at Meet the Teacher last night: Meet The Teacher Feedback Survey
WEEK IN REVIEW - Thursday Sept.18th was Meet the Teacher- This was an opportunity to learn about the class schedule and expectations, homework, parent communication, field trips, special events, and an opportunity for parents to ask questions. The Book Fair was occurring simultaneously. This event is an important fundraiser for our Library collection. The Welcome Back Family Picnic with food trucks was also taking place. This was a great way to celebrate the beginning of a new school year and build our school community spirit with other families. A huge Shout Out to Nellie's School Council for organizing and hosting this fun family picnic event! - Running Club will be happening at different locations after school each Wednesday in October. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the race sites and supervision at the race sites. Parents, please sign up ASAP directly with Mr. S.- jaasiemieniuck@cbe.ab.ca. Practices will take place at lunch starting next week. The first race will be after school at 4:00pm on Wednesday Oct. 1 at Sam Livingston Elementary. There will be a $10 fee per student participant to cover the cost of pinnies and ribbons etc. This fee can be paid on the MyCBE account or in office by debit or credit before the second race. Parents will be notified when the fee is listed on their account. No cash please.
- Fall School Picture Day is coming up on Wednesday, Oct.1st. Help your child pick out clothes and colours that look good on them. After all, your child is the star of the photo—not their shirt, so avoid slogans, logos, and big patterns. Every year students change, but school photos help you remember.
- Provincial Screening Assessments are happening this week for students in kindergarten- grade 3. Literacy and numeracy are two important foundational skill areas that develop during early childhood. Screening students’ learning in literacy and numeracy in their early years provides critical information to teachers, parents, and Alberta Education and Childcare to help children and students get additional support if they need it. If you have a student in K-3, you can learn more here: Understanding Universal Screeners | Parent Communication
