Happy long weekend Citizens of Nellie!

A reminder that school is closed tomorrow for the Good Friday Holiday and there is no school on Monday as it is a system-wide professional learning day for CBE staff.

May everyone's long weekend be filled with joy and relaxation and time with family. Happy Easter to all our students, families, and staff who celebrate! Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 22.

Nellie is  so proud to cheer on one of our own teachers, Ms. Colleen Delaney-Taylor as she heads off to compete in the Boston Marathon on Monday. The Boston Marathon is the world's oldest annual marathon and ranks one of the world's largest and best-known road racing events.  Amateur and professional runners from all over the world compete in the Boston Marathon each year, braving the hilly Massachusetts terrain and varying weather to take part in the race. The event attracts 500,000 spectators along the route! We appreciate how Ms. Delaney-Taylor models healthy competition and an active lifestyle promoting positive sportsmanship, and encouraging students to strive for personal bests rather than focusing solely on winning!

April 24-28 is Support Staff Appreciation Week at the Calgary Board of Education. It’s a great time to recognize the essential role played by these staff members in support of student and system success. From custodians to administrative assistants, education assistants to lunchroom supervisors, bookkeepers to IT support, occupational therapists to speech language pathologists — support staff are the backbone of the CBE. Their tireless efforts help ensure that our teachers, schools and system are supported so that students receive the best possible education. Support staff hold almost 400 different titles within the Calgary Board of Education, a fact which speaks to the breadth of work that happens every day at schools and offices!

I am always happy to meet with parents to answer any questions. Please reach out!
