Happy Friday Citizens of Nellie!

This week:

On Tuesday, grade 2 students visited the Sam Centre for an imaginative adventure into the past of Calgary’s 112-year-old story, the Calgary Stampede! They put on their historian hats and learned about stories of how Calgary has grown from the beginning to now. As they two-stepped back in time together, they discovered how the Stampede began, and how people from all over the world come together to celebrate the spirit of the Wild West.  Students participated in authentic experiences that are intentionally designed to bring the Alberta Education Social Studies Program of Studies to life in the unit of study A Community in the Past,  analyzing how the community emerged, and examining how the community has changed over time.

Clubs- Did you know Nellie has many drop in clubs for students during lunch time?  Currently Monday is Drawing club for grade 1 & 2 and Athletics club for grades 2-4; Tuesday is gym club for grades 3-5; Wednesdays is knitting club for grades 2 & 3. School clubs offer numerous benefits, enhancing a well-rounded education and personal development. They provide opportunities for students to explore interests, develop crucial skills, and build a strong sense of community

I am always happy to meet with parents to answer any questions. Please reach out!
