Nellie in the Know Feb. 2 | Parking Lot, Jump Rope for Heart, PAC News, Bottle Drive Results

Happy Friday Friends and Family of Nellie,

Another great week at Nellie.  Students have been working really hard and were excited to get their report cards.  PAC Executive met Tuesday evening and went through the budget with a fine toothed comb.  Drivers navigated the closure of the parking lot.  Everyone traversed the slippery sidewalks, compound and field. Through all of the challenges the citizens of Nellie demonstrated their resiliency, their support for each other and their creativity.  Yes, another amazing week at the best school ever!

Sincerely,

Darren Dyck, Principal

Parking Lot

Thank you to all of the folks who have changed their routines because of the parking lot closure.  We have seen a big improvement this week.  Student safety is always a concern and the drop off time in the morning can be very dangerous.  It is important that we all make student safety a priority.  This week has been better but we still have had challenges with folks J-walking, doing U-turns on Palliser Dr., parking in the bus zone and waiting with their children in the car instead doing the kiss and drop.  I know that we can be safer if we all take personal responsibility for vehicle safety. To avoid dangerous situations the parking lot will be closed from 8:10 – 8:45 each day for the coming week.  Families are reminded that students should be dropped off on Palliser Drive or in the alley behind the school.  Please let’s keep our children safe!

Jump Rope For Heart

We are excited to dedicate the next 2 weeks to learning new jump rope techniques in our gym classes. But, we are especially excited to share our school wide donating goal of $2,000. The online donation weblink is set up to accept donations: https://jumpropeforheart.crowdchange.ca/52088  Please donate if you are able.

On Feb. 14 we will hold a Jump Rope for Heart Final assembly. During the assembly our final donation total will be shared. If we reach our $2,000 goal, Mr. Dyck as graciously volunteered to take FOUR pies in the face from 4 students! Additionally, students will demonstrate their jump rope skills and there will be "Jump Rope for Heart" swag prizes for students who have shown dedication and improved their jump rope skills.

Stay tuned for more information for our Valentine's Day Jump Rope for Heart Event details as families are welcome!
