Happy Friday, Nellie Citizens!

WEEK IN REVIEW

  • On Wednesday, our Grade 3 students enjoyed an engaging day at Heritage Park, where they participated in the Connections to Our Past and Journey of a Lifetime programs. Through hands-on experiences, historical artifacts, and interactive learning opportunities, students explored what life was like for people in Alberta's past and gained a deeper understanding of the experiences of newcomers who helped shape our province. The field trip provided meaningful connections to the Alberta grade 3 Social Studies curriculum by helping students examine how communities change over time, explore Alberta's history, and recognize the diverse experiences and contributions of people who have helped build our province. Students returned with new insights, thoughtful questions, and a greater appreciation for Alberta's rich heritage.
  • This Sunday is Persons Day- Nellie McClung was a key figure in this important day! In recognition of Persons Day, this week classes participated in age-appropriate learning activities to discover who Nellie McClung was and why our school is named in her honour. Through stories, discussions, and classroom activities, students learned about her role in advocating for women's rights and helping advance equality in Canada. These learning experiences encouraged students to reflect on the importance of standing up for fairness, inclusion, and positive change in their own communities.
