Nellie in the Know Oct. 20 | Halloween Dance, Snacks, Giving Tree

Hello Citizens of Nellie,

Nellie’s Halloween dance was a great success.  A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who made this exceptional event come to fruition. The costumes were fantastic, the music engaging and the conversations light-hearted and fun.  What a wonderful evening.  Remember this is just the start.  Halloween day is a great day of learning at Nellie as well. It is a fun and happy-go-lucky way for everyone to “play make-believe”.  Parents are asked to monitor costumes and avoid having costumes that are too gory or too dangerous.  Props are also a concern.  Props such as swords, guns, pitch forks or any other type of weapon should stay at home.  Families who do not celebrate Halloween need to contact their child’s teacher and myself so we may ensure that the learning for your child is not associated with the Halloween celebrations and activities.

Thank you all for making Nellie a special place to learn.  We are so fortunate to have so many wonderful volunteers, parents, students and staff.

Have a great weekend.
Darren Dyck, Principal

Snacks

Snacks are always needed at school.  If you are able to bring in granola bars, fish crackers, cheese strings or fresh fruit to help those students who do not bring snacks or lunches it would be greatly appreciated.

Giving Tree

As a community, in December, we provide gifts, food and help that is needed.  If you and your family are in need please email me at dkdyck@cbe.ab.ca and we will “adopt” your family this December.  If you are interested in helping please watch for emails from School Council on what is needed.  A sign-up genius will be sent out once we know what our families need.  Recipients will be anonymous.

If your family is in need please complete this document, email it to me, bring it into the school or come into the school and complete one here.  Our PAC is ready to mobilize and wants to get an early jump on gift purchasing. See document under Resources.
